YMCA Camp Campbell

We are looking for responsible 15+ year olds to serve as cabin leader volunteer counselors. Our cabin leaders earn 87 hours of community service for a Monday through Friday overnight commitment. They are expected to stay overnight in cabin with their campers, support their naturalist during the day, and manage their cabin of 5th or 6th graders by making sure their campers are having fun and staying safe. Our cabin leaders support their naturalist during field lessons. Their naturalist will teach them and campers about the redwood ecosystem, river ecology, visit the habitat house, and composting. Nighttime programs include the night hike and campfire. Cabin leaders will teach their cabin games and go in our pool or do archery. Cabin leaders experience a hands- on approach to acquiring leadership skills and child development, while being supported by staff. Food and lodging are provided free-of-charge for cabin leaders' stay. We are open from September 9, 2024 through May 30, 2025. We will not be looking for volunteers for the last week in December, the first week in January, and possibly one or two weeks in March.
